Dingwall Custom II Quilted Bubinga

The Custom II guitar is our interpretation of a classic design taken to a boutique level. Our goal was not to duplicate the tone or feel but to create a monster of a guitar that can cover as much sonic territory as possible. We wanted it to be light weight, have contours that were both comfortable and sexy to look at, be extremely resonant, be capable of an extremely low action and play and holds it’s tune with extreme precision.

In our opinion we’ve succeeded on all fronts. The Custom II features a semi-hollow African mahogany body with either a hard tail or choice of vibrato bridge. The smoothly contoured 3-piece maple neck feels fast and stable. The optional carbon fiber reinforced walnut neck adds a little extra woody feel and resonance. The headstock is angled back 7 degrees to maximize strength and tuning stability. Tuners are Sperzel open-back design for lightweight and great feel.

We’ve selected a unique pickup package that’s similar to our old Hyper-Pro design. We combine a set of 3 Lindy Fralin split blade pickups (two Vintages in neck and middle and one Blues in the bridge position). These are wired to a 5-way Megaswitch. The Megaswitch replaces the typical Strat middle position single pickup with a bridge and neck combination for a cool Tele vibe. The 4th pickup is a Lindy Fralin split blade Hot pickup. It’s wired to a mini toggle switch so that you can easily switch back and forth between the Hot lead and the rhythm 5-way. To make things even cooler you can put the mini toggle in it’s middle position to blend the Hot bridge in series with the 5-way for a total of 5 humbucker tones from warm and chocolaty in the neck position to bright and powerful in the bridge position. Roll down the tone a little and you’ve got great Jazz tones too. Other pickup combinations are available upon request.

We are now accepting custom orders based on this design. Prices will vary according to options but a good median figure is $3950.00 Canadian.
