FD 3A Pickups on Combustion

The FD-3A pickups are made in our shop in Canada. They are our first pickup to feature Alnico magnets.  The coil structure is based on the FD-3 but with some updated construction features and increased winds.

Their tone could best be described as sounding like “fine European chocolate” – smooth and sweet. The FD-3A’s have a warmth and sweetness to the top end that is almost magical. They have a natural compression that helps even out playing dynamics and makes playing a lot of fun.

The FD-3A pickups feature twisted-pair 2 lead wiring. They are pre-wired series bridge, parallel neck. However we’ve left the output lead tabs exposed so that future series/parallel wiring combinations are possible.
