LEE SKLAR SIGNATURE OVERVIEW

We’ve built basses for Lee for over 10 years. They’ve become his main touring basses and one of his most used recording basses. For his signature model we combined his favorite features and woods to create a bass with a unique voice that is both powerful and clear. We selected finishes to reflect Lee’s love of Hot Rods. If we were to choose one word to describe the Lee Sklar signature model it would be “Stunning!”

  2. Bob Naumann says:

I saw Lee Sklar play this bass with James Taylor and Carol King last weekend – the sound was classis Lee Sklar with the slides up and down the neck – it sounded really great.

  4. Andrew Bradford says:

I also saw Leland play with James Taylor and Carol King and that bass tone is absolutely amazing. Every note was huge, pure and clean. What a great bass player and a great bass. I play a dingwall in a few heavy & experimental rock bands and love it! DINGWALL FOREVER!!!

  5. Espen Wøien says:

I’ve played it for over 6 months now and it’s every bit as good as Leland said it would be, and Sheldon did a great job creating such a fantastic instrument. The sound is phenomenal with a sustain that never seems to quit.

  6. Kenji Kitahara says:

    Love it!

  7. Marzio Galli says:

Lee is one of the best bassist in the world and it’s right he play a really…”opera d’arte”. Bravi!!

  8. jacob says:

he is just a bass player who defines the major role of the bass in a band.he plays music and not just noise.

  9. Ed Attfield says:

I still have my Fender precision lite that I bought 17 yrs ago, but when I bought the Lee Sklar this year….I can’t believe that I waited this long to buy one. Some people ask for that much it should play itself….sometimes it feels like it does!

  10. Karen Godson says:

    Wouldn’t “bitchin” be a better description? ;)

  11. PATRICK HALE says:

THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST INSTRUMENTS EVER CREATED. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING SINCE 1985 AND TONE HAS ALWAYS BEEN NUMBER ONE ON MY LIST AND THIS BASS DEFINES TONE. IF YOU CAN’T GET THE SOUND THAT YOU NEED FROM THIS BASS,YOU NEED TO STOP PLAYING……THIS BASS IS PURE SWEETNESS !!!

  12. Larry Herron says:

The Dingwall Lee Sklar bass redefines the instrument, with the combination of tone and playability that is worth every penny. Playing this bass is equivalent to ice skating versus walking. This is a direct result of Sheldon’s innovative craftmanship and his ability to shape an evolution in bass guitar design. This bass has to be played to appreciate, the ease of playing is unprecedented, and in my humble opinion, the biggest advancement in bass technology to date. You have to be willing to throw preconcieved notions out the window to enjoy the uniqueness this instrument offers you. Sheldon is a genius!

  13. Arnaud Riaca says:

    Hi Sheldon,
It’s been a great moment meeting you at the Montreal Jazz festival Guitar Show and playing your basses. Among all is my favourite Z3 but all the rest sounds very good too. The Z3 has got something particular with it’s 3 pick-ups configuration going down to that fat clean bass through the growling mids up to a super soft treble end. I think this bass has not got one particular style of music because of the multiple pick-ups combination offering the player to dial into any style (as if there are 3 to 4 basses built in). The on-board pre-amp is very very very quiet not even a hiss in the headphones. The slanted frets offers a natural comfort and position to the fingers with no great efforts when playing. The saddles are original and the strings are set low action with no fret buzz and the neck is strong. I would recommend anyone looking for a bass to consider it first because this bass is a SERIOUS BASS !!!!!!

  14. Michael B says:

I first saw this bass watching Toto with Lee Sklar(one of my biggest heros)and was immediately intrigued. Since then I have found nothing but people raving about Dingwall Basses. I have just ordered my Lee sklar Signature Dingwall through Verdi Music in Australia. Only problem now is trying to sleep I’m so excited!!
Thanks Sheldon, you’re obviously a true artisan hope to meet you in Australia one day :-) .

  19. Bill MacMartin says:

  20. John Constantinides says:

Did you have plans to make a 4-string version?

  21. Scarey Larry says:

I have been using a Leland Sklar for approx. a year. Love it. You can feel the thunder but has a gentle voice when required.

  22. sheldon says:

Hi John, you’re in luck. We are releasing 4-string versions at NAMM 2016.

Sorry Eric. This is how we make our living.

  27. Jeff Doty says:

Lee’s sense of melody, tone and lyrical nature have always been ahead of his time. He is master of both his signature fretboard runs as well as foundation whole notes. Musical in the best sense of the word.

  28. Scott says:

I got a chance to play a Lee Sklar sig at long & mcquade in Markham. I was already blown away at how amazing your basses play and sound, but the this sig has blown everything I tried before out of the water. To start I’m a slim and fast guitar neck kinda guy, and this basses neck felt like I was playing a guitar the whole time. The low action was beautiful, and the tone, those super fatty pickups in series with that 3 band glockenklang preamp, it was tonal effing magic. I would def love a custom Z2 with some of the LS sigs features, just gotta save and it’ll be all mine
